Helping the right thing to happen

For the CEO

What is your mission?  Is it driven by a vision?

As the top executive in a business, one of your leadership responsibilities is to make your vision accessible to the rest of the organization.  Many have found that all other goals depend on success here.

Consider your vision for your company.  How does it translate into mission?  How does it translate into something that Sales can use?  How will Finance use it to create the most effective picture of cash, debt, assets?  How will your staff turn it into sets of interlaced processes so that all parts of your company can function as a single organism energized and propelled by a single ideal?

Even more to the point, how will you know that all this is happening?  What will you need to monitor?  What data will be produced?  How?  What will it take to give you confidence that you have a current and complete picture of the direction that the company is headed?

How will you satisfy yourself that things can’t get more than minimally off track before management becomes aware and takes corrective action?

The success of your vision depends on your ability to monitor your company’s processes and take corrective action.

You need to be part of the Data Management Plan.
